George W. Reagan Company was awarded the contract for the construction of the new high school gymnasium by negotiation. This building combines pre-engineered building components (clear span main frames and mechanically seamed metal roof), wood roof trusses and wood stick framing in order to provide a functional, yet attractive structure. The building boasts a seating capacity of 1,000, has two full basketball-volleyball courts in the vertical direction, one championship court in the horizontal direction, four classrooms, and a new music room. The championship court has been named the “Wade & Allan Houston Court at Knoxville Christian School”. By utilizing brick, painted split faced concrete masonry units, and EIFS the exterior of the building blends well with the existing campus. Interior finishes consist of a wood gym floor, vinyl tile, carpet, painted gypsum board, prefinished wood doors, and acoustical ceilings.
